The Rotary District 1910 is part of Rotary International, a global organization committed to community service, promoting integrity, and fostering understanding and peace at a global level. Our district includes the Austrian states of Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Styria, and Vienna, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our members are organized into clubs - Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, and Interact Clubs - and engage in projects in seven focus areas:
- Promoting Peace: Rotary fosters dialogue and understanding between cultures and communities to strengthen peace. Through scholarships and training programs for peace promotion, members are trained to mediate and reduce conflicts.
- Fighting Disease: Rotary is best known for its efforts to eradicate polio but also combats other diseases. Members improve access to healthcare, provide vaccinations, and educate communities about disease prevention.
- Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene: Rotary prioritizes giving people access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Projects support the construction of infrastructure like wells and water purification systems and promote hygiene practices.
- Saving Mothers and Children: Rotary projects improve the health of mothers and their children by providing access to essential medical services, nutritious foods, and health education.
- Supporting Education: Rotary invests in the future by supporting education with scholarships, school building projects, and literacy programs, and by providing tools and training for educators.
- Growing Local Economies: Rotary supports sustainable projects that strengthen local economies by helping small business owners and farmers expand their businesses and access new markets.
- Protecting the Environment: Rotary has recently focused on promoting environmental protection as a priority area of action. Projects in this area include measures to reduce pollution, reforestation, protection of biodiversity, and promoting sustainable practices.
Through these initiatives, Rotary members contribute to preserving natural resources and supporting ecological sustainability.
